Dado Villa-Lobos is a Brazilian musician, songwriter, and producer. He was born in Brasília in 1965 and grew up playing guitar and listening to punk rock and new wave music. In the early 1980s, he helped found the influential Brazilian rock band Legião Urbana, which became one of the most popular and politically charged bands in the country.
During his time with Legião Urbana, Villa-Lobos played guitar, wrote songs, and contributed to the band's distinctive sound, blending rock, funk, and Brazilian rhythms. He remained with the band until its lead singer, Renato Russo, died in 1996. After Legião Urbana disbanded, Villa-Lobos pursued a solo career, releasing several albums and collaborating with other musicians.
In addition to his work in music, Villa-Lobos is also a visual artist and has exhibited his paintings and sculptures in galleries in Brazil and abroad. He is considered one of the most important figures in Brazilian rock music and has been recognized for his contributions to the Brazilian cultural scene.
